Veneers are primarily used for aesthetic reasons, while dental crowns can be used for both restorative and cosmetic treatments.

A dental crown is commonly used to help restore and maintain the integrity of a tooth by completely encasing it in the crown’s porcelain shell. Not only does this help keep the tooth secure and strong, it also looks just like a natural tooth.

Porcelain veneers are employed for changing the appearance of a smile only. They include other benefits since the porcelain is stain-resistant and strong, but have no other restorative function.

At Perfect Teeth we understand that visiting the dentist can be scary, and offer sedation dentistry for anxious patients. We have implemented sedation dentistry techniques so any anxious patients can receive the treatment they require without fear, pain or discomfort. Our techniques consist of Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) or for more complex and lengthy procedures we can employ general anaesthetic.

Noticing blood while brushing can be the first indicator of periodontal (gum) disease. If you notice blood while brushing your teeth, it is important to book an appointment at our Cairns or Redlynch dental practice to ensure you are not suffering from gum disease. If left untreated, gum disease can become severe and result in tooth and bone loss.

At Perfect Teeth we recommend flossing before sleep.

This allows all food particles to be removed from the mouth which would otherwise wreak havoc in the mouth while you sleep.

If you are primarily concerned with the aesthetics of your smile, cosmetic dental treatments are for you.

Cosmetic dentistry focuses primarily on rejuvenating the overall look of your smile, and can include treatments such as tooth whitening, porcelain veneers and tooth coloured restorations.

Preferably you should bring your child in to us as soon as their first tooth has erupted or by their first birthday, whichever comes first.

By allowing us to assess their mouth early we are able to fully track the development of their teeth. We make your child’s first visit fun and exciting, and always keep them fully informed of what is happening so they understand the process and that it is beneficial to them. We believe in creating a strong rapport with your children so as they age they develop good dental health habits for life.
